I don’t care whether you call yourself an Executive Assistant, Administrative Assistant, Administrative Business Partner, or something else entirely.
I don’t care if your title reflects the scope of your role – though I’ll advocate for it to.
I don’t care if your work is behind the scenes or front and centre.
What I do care about is that you are empowered to make an impact.
I care that you have the tools, training, and resources to excel.
I care that you are respected for the strategic partner you are.
I care that your contribution is valued at every level of the organisation.
You don’t need to apologise for stepping into your power.
You don’t need permission to share your ideas, challenge the status quo, or drive change.
You don’t need to justify why investing in your professional development is non-negotiable.
The future of the administrative role is evolving rapidly – technology, strategy, leadership. You are at the heart of it all.
The question is not whether the profession will change – it’s whether you’ll be ready for it.
My advice for organisations:
1. Recognise the role as vital to your success.
2. Invest in your administrative professionals like you would any other leader.
3. Create opportunities for them to grow.
4. Trust them to deliver.
