Why Leaders Need to Make Time for Their Assistants — Even When They Think They Don’t

“You don’t have time to meet with your assistant…
because you don’t have time to meet with your assistant.”

“You don’t have time to meet with your assistant…
because you don’t have time to meet with your assistant.”

I say this to leaders all the time.

You’re in back-to-back meetings. You’re overwhelmed. You’re firefighting.
And the one person who could help you fix that, the person who could create time, capacity, and calm, is the one you’re not making time for.

Your assistant isn’t an overhead.
They’re an investment.

But only if you treat them that way.

⏰ Make time for regular 1:1s.
✨ Let them in on what’s coming, not just what’s already happened.
🔮 Stop expecting them to read your mind, and start building a real partnership.

Because if you’re too busy to align with the person who runs your day, your calendar, and your flow, then you’ll stay too busy.
It’s a self-inflicted loop. And it’s avoidable.

Invest 10 minutes a day.
What you get in return is not just time – it’s clarity, focus, momentum.

You don’t need more hours in the day.
You need to use the ones you already have more wisely.

Start with your assistant.
